Although many nations struggle with lack of access to clean water, this website will examine issues in Mexico and the Congo.
In Mexico, 90 million people either have to buy bottled water sold at extremely high prices or use purifying systems just to stay hydrated. People most affected by it are children, and it can even affect their ability to get an education. In some communities, girls have to drop out of school when they hit puberty because most of the schools the those nations do not have clean water which means unclean bathrooms or toilets. Girls can also be responsible for collecting water from sources far from home. Children can become dehydrated which can cause them to not pay attention in school even if they are able to attend.
In the Congo, only 26 percent of the nation's population is able to access clean water. Still, people that are most affected are young people. 51 million people are not able to access clean water in the Congo. The water is contaminated by bacteria, waste, and chemicals. This causes people to have to find another option instead of water. The reason this is still a problem is because the nation lacks the funds to solve this serious health issue.
